What is Chutney?

Chutney is a sauce or a dip that has its roots in the Indian Subcontinent. It can be made in inumerable ways, using spices, herbs, fruits and vegetables. Not all Indian dishes need a chutney with them, but dishes such as Dosa (Savoury Indian Crepe), and Idli (Rice Cake) go along with Cocunut Chutney, Aloo Tikki (Potato Cutlet) blends with Cilantro and Tamarind chutneys, and the list continues.
